I was digging through my “stash” (collection of yarn for those of you non-knitting readers out there) this weekend and found a skein (aka, a ball of yarn) that is bright, variegated, multi-colored sock yarn that I believe will make just the right next pair of socks.  I will, however, have to take the socks that I started a month ago off the needles.  Don’t be too sad for them – I didn’t really like the yarn, so it will become a gift (KATE!) and I hadn’t gotten very far with the cast on, so there is really no time lost.

I also found a shawl pattern that interested me a few years ago, so I think I’m going to start shopping for yarn for it.  (Did I say shopping?  Didn’t mean to.  I meant…waiting.  Or, um, looking for yarn in my stash….yeah, that’s what I meant….)  I also found my first attempted shrug with a complicated cable pattern that I totally mucked up and now I’m thinking that I want to frog it and re-do it properly.

I also found the sock yarn that I was making this little heart satchel thingie for Lori, so I think it is time to revive that project – I just need to find my size 0 DPN (double-pointed-needles….)

Whew!  I guess you could say that inspiration struck!

I'm thinking about something….

Kate just informed me that she will be visiting Marylinover spring. break.  *sigh*  That would be such a lovely trip.  I too miss Marylin and Peter much.  However, I am formulating a plan by which I will be making my own little road trip.  (Mom, Dad – please don’t freak out about this one….)  My grandmother, Meme, is not doing so well and so I have decided to go and visit her.  So here’s the plan.  Rent a car and drive to Louisiana and visit her for a few days.  Then drive to Atlanta and visit the fam there for a few days.  And then drive home.  Won’t be able to do much knitting in the car, but I sure will be listening to some audio books and forgetting about school (as much as one can because the Tuesday after I return I’ll have my Greek midterm).

Anyone up for a little road trip?

In other news, I’m still in a knitting frump.  Can’t seem to shake it.

In other, other news, the house is doing well.  The basement floor seriously needs to be mopped.  And the dryer still doesn’t work, which means that tomorrow when I do laundry, skivies will be hung up all over the basement.  I hope none of you decided to pop over to see the Octopus!

In other, other, other news, school started last night.  *sigh*  Another semester.  I’m exhausted even thinking about it.  I did discover last night, however, that the two “presentations” that I’ll have to do for that class are merely reading the 700-word book reviews, so nothing stressful there. *whew*!  But, I have a Greek vocab quiz on Tuesday night – the first night of class.  Why do they do that to us?  So – {crazy} is about to begin.

….the end and other things

My Mom has been waiting for this final up date as to the flood conditions for over a week…rather anxious she has been. So much so that in the last four conversations I’ve had with her she has mentioned my lack of blogging. Well. Humph.

S and M (the current owner, S, and her husband, M) have been truly gracious and expedient with getting the repairs done. The culprit was a collapsed sewer pipe that connected to the house sewer line. Unfortunately, it was a pipe on the property of the house, so it had to be repaired at the expense of the homeowners, in this case S & M. They did so willingly and expediently, even replacing the hot water heater, and I am now comfy and cozy back in my house. Yey!

Also, progress is being made with the sale of the home. There will be an appraiser from S’s bank at the house tomorrow – one more step forward. Maybe, just maybe there will be a date set for the closing soon. Keep your fingers crossed!

In the mean time, I’m having a hard time focusing on knitting. (*collective gasp*) I spent an average of 2.5 hours a day riding trains last week and every single day I forgot entirely to take my knitting with me. Totally forgot on Monday, totally forgot on Tuesday, totally forgot on Wednesday, totally forgot on Thursday (although I did actually think about knitting during the day and the fact that I was missing a prime opportunity to knit on the train) and then I totally forgot on Friday. So much for free time.

I do need to mention one blessing that happened last week, though. In the future you will be likely to read about my on-going struggles with my neighbor, Randy, and his dogs that poop in my yard. I have tentative plans for a fence, but until then, there will be poop discussed liberally on this blog, I’m afraid. Anyway, Randy has a mega snow blower and had been consistently doing the sidewalk along the street every time it has snowed. Between Thursday and Friday last week we must have had at least 6 inches of snow, most of it Thursday night. I got up on Friday at 5:30 AM to shovel the back sidewalk to the garage, the sidewalk along the side of my house and the one leading from the main sidewalk up to my front door, including the steps. I did not do the driveway and Camille valiantly made it though the snow. When I got home on Friday, Randy had snow blowed my driveway for me. I can’t tell you what a blessing that was!
